How to take measurements
In order to understand whether a thing is suitable or not, the buyer is likely to be interested not only in the official size indicated on the label, but in the actual measurements of your item. So, if you are set to sell, the necessary measurements should be taken immediately.
What measurements should be taken for each type of thing?
Wherever it is necessary to measure the girth (chest, waist, hips), for simplicity and accuracy of measurements, the measurement is made not along the full circumference, but the half-girth of the thing in the appropriate place.
T-shirts and tops.
1) Half bust.
For this group of goods, the main size is the bust. Measured along the right side of the item from one side seam to the other at a level of approximately 2.5 cm below the junction of the sleeve with the base of the item.
2) Item length.
Measured from the top of the shoulder to the bottom edge.
Sweaters, blouses (with sleeves).
1) Half bust.
2) Sleeve length.
For this category of things, it is necessary to measure another important parameter - the length of the sleeve. The measurement is taken from the junction of the side seam with the sleeve to the bottom edge of the sleeve or cuff (if any).
3) Item length.
Dresses.
For dresses, it is important to measure:
1) Bust, waist and product length.
2) Half waist.
This measurement for dresses is taken from the front side seam to the side seam at the level where the fit for the waist is provided. As a rule, this is the narrowest part of the dress. If the dress does not have such a clear “waist mark”, then this measurement is taken approximately 40 cm below the shoulder line.
3) Item length.
Measured from the highest point on the shoulder to the bottom of the dress (including all frills, waves and other trims).
Skirts.
1) Half waist.
For skirts, measured along the top edge of the skirt.
2) Skirt length.
Fitted silhouette.
For dresses and skirts with a form-fitting silhouette, you need to measure the half-circumference of the hips. Measured at the widest part on the front side, approximately 18-20 cm below the waist.
Pants and jeans.
1) Half waist.
2) Semicircumference of the hips - measured along the front side from one side seam to the other at the level where the zipper ends.
3) Fit height - along the fastener or front seam, from the top of the trousers to the crotch.
4) The length of the thing - it is most correct to measure the length of the trousers along the crotch, folding them in half leg to leg
5) If the trousers have a clearly defined silhouette narrowed to the bottom, then it makes sense to measure the half-girth of the leg along the bottom edge.
Shoes.
The two main parameters of any pair of shoes are the length and width of the pair. Both of these parameters are measured by the insole.
For boots, high boots, you need to additionally measure the height of the bootleg - along the inside of the shoe - from the insole to the upper edge and its full girth.
Be sure to measure the height of the platform and heel, photos may not always convey these parameters correctly.
Measure your foot, and tell the buyer if the shoes were small, fit or big for you with these measurements.
Materials and cut.
Do not forget to indicate whether there are elastic inserts in some part, whether the material of the thing stretches.
If for sale you take photos of the thing on yourself, then you can, in addition to measuring the thing itself, write your measurements to the buyer - then it will be easier for him to figure out how the thing will fit.
